Baroque Concert TOMORROW at Keeler Tavern

Tres Maresienne, a baroque trio, will open the 24th season of the Louise McKeon Chamber Music Series at the Keeler Tavern Museum, 132 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT on Sunday, September 21, at 3 p.m. The musicians will play in the classic Garden House overlooking the extraordinary brick walled garden alive with fall color.

Lisa Brooke, violin, Carol Lewis, viola de gamba, and Olav Chris Henriksen, theorbo and baroque guitar, will present a program of baroque compositions written in the 17th century for the court of Louis 14th of  France. Performing both in Paris and at the Palace of Versailles, the kings musicians were  well acquainted with each other and other servants of the court, as well as with courtiers. Many pieces were dedicated to colleagues often for financial gain, but also at times as a gesture of respect. The theme of Tres Maresienne’s concert is this network of composers and their dedicatees.

Following the concert, guests will  be invited to meet the musicians and enjoy light refreshments.

Entrance at the door: adults $15, seniors and students $12, children under twelve years $10 info@keelertavernmuseum.org.

The second concert in this series will take place Sunday, October 19 at 3 PM. It will feature Victoria Drake, harpist, performing in the Garden House at the Keeler Tavern Museum.

The Louise McKeon Concert Series 24th Season consists of two concerts in the fall of 2014 and two in the Spring of 2015. On  April 12th  Sue Corey Sahlin and Gunnar Sahlin, viola and cello will perform, and on May 10th, 2015 Musicians from the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra will  perform.

The Concert Series is not supported by admission fees alone.  Generous sponsors on three levels: Premier $500, Benefactor $300, and Patron $150, make the concert series possible. All sponsors receive two tickets to the series and have their names listed on the concert programs. If you would be interested in contributing, please contact the Keeler Tavern Museum.
