Two Ridgefield churches - St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and First Congregational Church - will present an historical musical event on October 5 at St. Stephen’s. For the first time their music departments will combine forces to present “Evensong in Blue,” featuring jazz settings of sacred music, as well as joyful hymns and anthems, composed or arranged by renowned British composer, Will Todd. They will be joined by a professional jazz ensemble, which includes Mr. Todd on the piano.
“Evensong in Blue” gets under way at 5 p.m. at St. Stephen’s, located at 351 Main St.
Mr. Todd’s music has been heard throughout the globe. His anthem "The Call of Wisdom" was heard and seen worldwide on the broadcast of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Celebration Service. He has been composing since he was seven years old. His output includes works for stage, orchestra and choir.
“Evensong in Blue” is free to the public; donations will be accepted. The public is invited to a reception in North Hall after the performance.
