Composer Will Todd in St. Stephen’s “Evensong in Blue”

British composer and jazz pianist Will Todd will be a special guest performer/conductor at “Evensong in Blue,” which will be presented at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Sunday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m. The church is located at 351 Main St.

The combined choirs of St. Stephen’s and the First Congregational Church and a professional jazz ensemble will perform jazz settings of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimitis, joyful hymns and beautiful anthems, all composed or arranged by Mr. Todd, who will play piano in the ensemble.

Mr. Todd has written award-winning operas, oratorios, and stage and orchestral works. His anthem “The Call of Wisdom” was heard worldwide on the broadcast of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration at St. Paul’s Cathedral in 2012.

There is no admission charge for “Evensong in Blue,” although donations will be accepted. All are invited to a reception in the church’s North Hall following the event.
