March 27 at KTM: The Battle of Ridgefield II
This time, it won’t be a contest of arms, but of wits. On March 27, teams will gather in Keeler Tavern Museum’s Garden House to test their knowledge of the history that surrounds them, from the momentous to the trivial. You can be part of the battle: The competition is open to anyone who recruits, joins, or creates a team. The stakes (in addition to bragging rights): The champion will gain custody of a specially designed trophy.
A distinguished panel of local history authorities (shown in the accompanying photo, left to right) is already working in seclusion on the questions: Jack Sanders, retired editor of The Ridgefield Press and local history author; Joe Ellis, retired Ridgefield educator; Ridgefield Town Historian Kay Ables; Keeler Tavern Museum Board members Elise Haas, Charlie Pankenier, and Karen McChesney (not pictured); and Angelo Tartaro, experienced moderator of local trivia contests.
Cost per entrant is $15.00, which includes light snacks. Space is limited; online registration starts at keelertavernmuseum.org on Friday, January 23rd.
The history contest is coming! The contest is coming! And the first question will be fired shortly after 6:30 PM on March 27—that’s 237 years, 10 months, and 26 days following the first Battle of Ridgefield (April 27, 1777, between American Patriots and British Redcoats). One major difference: You can take part in this one.
