The well-known mascot of the New York Mets, the ever-smiling Mr. Met, will appear at the Children’s Carnival for Charity Saturday, Feb. 28, at The Harvey School. Mr. Met, once listed by Forbes Magazine as the #1 mascot in all of sports, will be one of two featured guests to help the school’s community service club raise money for Doctors Without Borders and the All Stars Project. He will appear from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The WHUD 100.7 FM Fan Van crew will also appear to offer music and giveaways from noon to 2 p.m. The carnival will be held from noon to 4 p.m. The snow date is Sunday, March 1.
The carnival will offer a gym full of bouncy stations, traditional carnival games for prizes, fun crafts, hair and nail salons, and much more. There will be hot dogs and chili for sale along with baked goods, snacks, popcorn and cotton candy.
Admission is free. Tickets will be sold for rides, games and fun activities, with all proceeds going to the two charities the community service club has chosen to help this year. Doctors Without Borders is an international medical humanitarian organization and the All Stars Project is a New York City-based performing arts program for underserved inner city youth.
