Hawaii-based surfer-songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter performs at The Ridgefield Playhouse on August 5

Donavan Frankenreiter brings his smooth vocals, quick witted humor and his iconic, totally well-groomed moustache back to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday, August 5.

Hawaii-based surfer-songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter, known for his sunny melodies and laid-back rhythms, continues to boldy ride the acoustic singer/songwriter wave.  As a life-long collaborator with Jack Johnson, their association goes back to the days before either was a star, they share an earthy folksiness that audiences love.

Frankenreiter’s easy style bears all the intimacy of an impromptu back-porch performance and skill of the world class musician. He incorporates a soulful 70's influenced sound backed by a stellar band to create a unique home-grown funk!  With his trademark moustache and ukulele he returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday, August 5, at 8 p.m. with a set sure to ooze good vibes and breezy sounds. This will be the fourth time he has graced The Ridgefield Playhouse stage.  Frankenreiter has evolved into a kind of peace emissary, singing of the end of conflict and for brotherhood among peoples. Endowed with a characteristically “surfer” philosophy, the wind in his hair and sea salt drying on his skin, he arrives with a honeyed voice and waves of good music and vibes.  Donavon will be debuting new music as well as playing hits like, "Free", "Move By Yourself", and "Start Livin'", just to name a few.

It’s not surprising that a pro surfer/singer is being underwritten by The Ridgefield Bicycle Company, a local sports shop with some high-energy patrons.  Before the show visit 850 Degrees Wood Fired Pizza (424 Main Street, Ridgefield) for dinner and receive a free glass of draft beer with dinner when tickets are presented.  This event is part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer/Songwriter and Xfinity Rock Series with media sponsors 90.7fm WFUV.  In the lobby before the show and during intermission, concertgoers will learn how Love Hope Strength (LHS) saves lives, one concert at a time. LHS turns concerts into lifesaving events through their “Get on the List” campaign that places fans on the national marrow donor registry.  At Frankenreiter’s 2013 concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse, a match was found, and eight matches have been uncovered over the course of the last few years at Donavan’s concerts alone. Love Hope Strength has found 1,017 matchesfor patients who have attended rock concerts, which makes both the artists and fans feel good.

For tickets ($38) all or visit the box office at 203-438-5795, or order tickets online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org.  The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
