The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, in partnership with the Ridgefield Library, presents Give It a Rest:  Survey of the Literary Portrayal of Sloth

Discover depictions of sloth in literature as presented by Mark Schenker, Dean of Academic Affairs at Yale College. In association with the Sloth exhibition at The Aldrich, he will touch upon examples in texts ranging from Homer's epics to Hamlet; from 1800s English novels to the plays of Chekhov; from Melville's Bartleby (1853) and Goncharov's Oblomov (1859) to Beckett's Waiting for Godot (1953) and O'Toole's A Confederacy of Dunces (1980).
