Bank of America & The Ridgefield Playhouse present “Shakespeare on the Green & Green Expo” – a community event on August 15

Bank of America and The Ridgefield Playhouse will present what has become an annual community event -- Shakespeare on the Green and Green Expo -- on Saturday, August 9.

The “how to live green” fair runs from 12 noon to 4 p.m. with Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” taking place under a tent for a seated audience at 2 p.m., all on the green at The Ridgefield Playhouse.   This “free to the community” extravaganza is a thank-you from the Playhouse to the greater Ridgefield community, which supports it throughout the year. More than 500 patrons spend fun family time experiencing a contemporary rendition of Shakespeare and learning about green living, which means making sustainable choices about what we eat, how we travel, what we buy, and how we use and dispose of it. The Tempest” showcases Shakespeare’s most enjoyable and magical plays.

This year’s Shakespeare-on-the-Green and Green Expo is made possible through the generous support of community business partners and event title sponsor Bank of America, including its Merrill Lynch Wealth Management business.  “The Ridgefield Playhouse has helped spread cultural awareness in Connecticut for over 15 years,” said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut market president for Bank of America. “Each year, these events help bring the community together and provide entertainment for local families.”

Additional event sponsors include Patricia Minskoff Breede, Scott Schneider, Ann & Steve Carlson and Pitney Bowes, Carol and Paul O'Connell and All Season Party & Tent Rentals.  Green Community Sponsors: Bareburger of Ridgefield, Frontier Communications, Hopkins Vineyard, Westport Electric Car Club, The Olive Oil Factory, The Ridgefield Press, Natural Awakenings, New Morning Market of Woodbury, Way of the Sword, Venture Photography and Woodcock Nature Center.  The experts who will be participating in the Green Expo will explain how easy it can be to implement sustainability in our workplace practices, in how we run our homes and how we can make everyday choices that are not only good for us but also for the environment. Food samples, food for purchase, product information and demonstrations make this “green” entertaining and educational event one not to miss.

Tickets are free but must be reserved by calling the box office at 203-438-5795, with a limit of 5 tickets per family on a first come first served basis. Tickets will be held at the box office until 1 p.m. on August 15. For more information, visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
