Celebrate 50 Years of the San Francisco Sound with Jefferson Airplane and special guests at The Ridgefield Playhouse on August 13.
The Grateful Dead aren't the only San Francisco Sound band celebrating a 50th anniversary this year. Jefferson Airplane turn 50 too, and to celebrate that, founding guitarist, backup and sometimes-lead vocalist Paul Kantner's band Jefferson Starship are playing full Airplane sets on tour. The current lineup has Kantner joined by longtime member David Freiberg, also of the great San Francisco band Quicksilver Messenger Service and a brief Airplane member in the early '70s, as well as David Freiberg, Grammy nominated singer Cathy Richardson along with Tom Constanten and other special guests. Their tour stops at The Ridgefield Playhouse on the exact date of the formation of Jefferson Airplane on Thursday, August 13 at 8 p.m. This “festival” features music of Jefferson Airplane from some of their most legendary shows such as Monterey, Woodstock, Altamont and more! This historic event will be taped for a future television broadcast! Make it a night of dinner and a show – visit Steakhouse Cellar Door (439 Main Street, Ridgefield) and enjoy a complimentary glass of house wine or draft beer and dessert before or after the show when tickets are presented. This is part of the xfinity Rock Series with media sponsor i95fm.
For tickets ($96 VIP Meet and Greet, $69 all other seats) call or visit the box office at 203-438-5795, or order tickets online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
