Cass Gilbert: More Than Beautiful Buildings at the Keeler Tavern on September 27

On Sunday, September 27th, The Keeler Tavern Museum will be hosting an event called More Than Beautiful Buildings. Dr. Barbara S. Christen will be speaking and giving lectures on Cass Gilbert’s architectural and philanthropic legacies, relating them to contemporary issues in historic preservation, urban design, and civic duty.  

Following a Q&A, Dr. Christen will join guests at a wine and cheese reception for the opening of the Highsmith Photography Exhibit. This will take place at the Garden House at 4:00 PM. Then at 5:30 PM at the Carriage Barn, an exclusive, first view of photographs of Cass Gilbert buildings from around the nation, taken by Carol M. Highsmith, who has been called “America’s Photographer” and is currently photographing 21st-century America for the Library of Congress.  Attendees at the wine and cheese reception will also enjoy casual time with the Dr. Christen.

The exhibit will be open September 27 through October 5th during Museum tour hours and by appointment.

The lecture and the reception will cost: $50 ($35/Members & Students); If you would like to attend just the lecture then it is $25 ($20/Members, $15 Students).
