Billy Bob Thornton brings a night of country-rock to The Ridgefield Playhouse on September 9

Hollywood A-Lister Billy Bob Thornton brings a night of country-rock to The Ridgefield Playhouse with his band The Boxmasters on September 9

Billy Bob Thornton, the Oscar and Golden Globe winning actor and director with his memorable performances in films including Sling Blade, A Simple Plan, Primary Colors, Bad Santa, Monster’s Ball, Love Actually, Friday Night Lights, and the Joel and Ethan Coen-directed Intolerable Cruelty and The Man Who Wasn’t There, is receiving as many accolades lately for his music as he has received for his acting.  Rolling Stone has taken notice of Thornton and his band The Boxmasters, putting their latest album “Somewhere Down The Road” at #19 on their list of 2015’s “30 Great Country Albums You Probably Didn’t Hear” and ranks it with some of country music’s most honest songwriting.

The band also received one of country music’s biggest honors – performing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry this summer.  Thornton has had a long love affair with music, long before he became a Hollywood A-lister.  He toured as a roadie and musician following his passion and lifelong love for music. He has been releasing music alone and with his band for years.

The Boxmasters fourth album, ‘Somewhere Down the Road’ is a double album with one disc emphasizing the band’s fascination with Sixties L.A. rock, and the other leaning more toward roots-country music.  Fans that have followed Billy Bob’s film and TV career – he recently won a best actor Golden Globe for his portrayal of Lorne Malvo in FX’s Fargo - will easily fall in love his music when Billy Bob and the band perform LIVE at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday, September 9, at 8 p.m. as part of the new Mountain Dew Country Series and Pepsi Rock Series powered by xfinity.   An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person), which includes priority parking and open bar is available for this show.  Ridgefield’s newest restaurant Luna Rossa (90 Danbury Road, Ridefield) is offering a free glass of house wine with your dinner when tickets are presented the night of the show.

For tickets ($60), call or visit the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
