Prospector Theater

10:00-11:15 Screening and discussion of the 1995 Disability Rights documentary "When Billy Broke His Head...And Other Tales of Wonder"

11:30-12:00 Sensory exercise and discussion on the challenges of navigating our community and environment that may cause hazards to the safety of those with visual and other challenges.

Tours, small group chats, and more at the Prospector Theater.

Town Hall

12:45 ADA 25th Anniversary Flag raising on Town Hall steps. Proclamation reading. 

Ballard Park

1:00:: Ridgefield Dance & Fitness instructor Aimee will lead yoga for all abilities and levels  in Ballard Park. Bring a towel or mat and dress comfortably. No experience required (weather permitting).

Lounsbury House

1:00-4:00 Pumpkin carving and decorating station dedicated to accessibility during the Pumpktober Festival at the Lounsbury House.

Molly Ann Tango Jr Board Members and RHS * SRMS Best Buddies ambassadors will be on site for assistance as needed.

SPHERE

1:00-4:00 jewelry making at SPHERE's 421 Main Street location. The SPHERE chorus will sin in various locations throughout the afternoon. 

Ridgefield Library

 

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at The Ridgefield Library ADA 25th Anniversary Celebrations: Speaker Series

 

2:00 PM - Robin Caruso, Ridgefield, CT resident whose life was forever changed by an accident on July 21, 2007 that left her without use of her right arm. On July 22, 2008, Robin competed in her first NYC Triathlon as a challenged athlete, or a para triathlete. She won the race and became a National Champion. This is the first of her many accolades that would follow. She will share her journey and experiences that the Challenged Athlete Foundation has supported her.

3:00 PM - Lorraine K. Trapani, Ridgefield, CT resident is a volunteer Guiding Eyes for the Blind Puppy Raiser and Ambassador. Guiding Eyes provides, free of charge, superbly bred and trained guide dogs to men and women who are blind or visually impaired. Dogs not suited for guide work may become service dogs for children on the autism spectrum. One of the puppies raised by Lorraine is currently guiding the State House American Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Register here.

 

1:00-4:00 Volunteers will ask residents and businesses to Pledge On! the ADA. All who pledge will receive a wristband and businesses will receive window clings.
