News from the North Pole on Ridgefield's Holiday Tree Lighting

On Friday, November 27, at 6 p.m., families, neighbors and friends should gather at the beautifully-decorated, but dark, downtown Main Street area in front of Town Hall for the annual Tree Lighting. Many members of our town have spent countless hours getting the Main Street area ready for the holidays... and seeing the town illuminated with twinkle lights is simply magical!

Ridgefield's Ira Joe Fisher will be the Master of Ceremonies of this year's Tree Lighting ceremony, and along with the beautiful voices of the Ridgefield Chorale and SPHERE, it should be a joyous occasion.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., a VERY special, young Ridgefield resident will “pull of the light switch” illuminating the street for Santa Claus. Santa who usually parks his sleigh and reindeer at the Ridgefield Fire Department on Catoonah Street will then enter Main Street on a fire truck.  Santa Claus will then visit with all the young boys and girls behind the Fairfield County Bank Insurance Services, 401 Main Street.  This is a change from previous years when guests visited Santa in the lower level of Town Hall.

Post Tree Lighting, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church is hosting their annual Carols & Cocoa following the town tree lighting. All are welcome!

Be sure to come early and visit some of the fabulous shops… and stay late and visit some of our first-class restaurants!!
