Celebrate the Universal Languages of Music and Love with the RSO on Saturday Night

Music has often been called the universal language. Hans Christian Andersen famously wrote, “Where words fail, music speaks.” And yet, love has also often been said to be the universal language. Music and love are in some mysterious way inextricably intertwined, speaking directly to the human heart in a soft voice understandable by all.

So on Valentine’s Day weekend, what could be more fitting than enjoying a concert of world-class music with the theme of love? Join the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, February 13th, 8:00 pm, at Ridgefield High School for Redemption Through Love.

The concert features Rimsky-Korsakov’s all-time audience favorite Scheherazade. The heroine saves her life and ultimately wins the Sultan’s heart through the Tales of 1,001 Nights. The evening opens with Wagner’s Flying Dutchman Overture, recounting the saga of a love that redeemed eternally. And as an added bonus, the RSO is performing Schumann’s Second Symphony, a little-known gem. In keeping with the theme of the evening, Robert and Clara Schumann’s real-life love story is one for the ages, including a starving artist, eloping young lovers and a lifelong devotion and partnership.

Works with the theme of romance on Valentine’s Day weekend, an eloquent exposition in the universal language, under the baton of guest conductor Petko Dimitrov! A perfect evening of music and love, and a perfect way to celebrate the most romantic evening of the year with your Valentine!

Tickets and more information for the RSO’s February 13th performance are available online at the orchestra’s website, www.RidgefieldSymphony.org. Or call the RSO Box Office at 203-438-3889 today!
