Cash Is King is Bringing Country Back to The Ridgefield Playhouse with the Music of Johnny Cash on June 3

Legendary country rebel Johnny Cash comes to life with this full band extravaganza that gives vintage Country & Non Country fans alike the chance to experience a Johnny Cash Live Tribute Show with authentic costumes and stories from Cash's eventful life! “Cash Is King – The Ultimate Johnny Cash Tribute” returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, June 3 at 8 p.m. Mountain Dew Country Series and Pepsi Rock Series powered by Xfinity bring Johnny Cash, June Carter and The Tennessee Three to the stage performing decades of Johnny’s greatest hits including -- "Folsom Prison Blues", "I Walk The Line", "Ring Of Fire" and many more!

Johnny Cash is portrayed by the spot-on Brian Chicoine who will amaze as he sings, plays and tells the story of Johnny Cash's life. His voice bears an uncanny similarity to that of the legendary singer. With period costumes, cover versions of Cash classics and between-song banter, this event captures the essential Johnny Cash. Vicky St. Pierre plays June Carter to perfection. Kicking off the night is special guest Truck Stop Troubadours. They are a tried and true “Genuine Country Band” except no substitutes for the real deal.

Performing in a retro country style pulling influences from “Sun Records” and the legendary “Bakersfield Sound”. Their outspoken outlaw attitude is in direct correlation to the slickly produced records coming out of Nashville that have made them “The Thorn” in the side of Modern Country Radio. Their live performance is fresh full of swagger with an edge. Media sponsor is Danbury’s WLAD 800 AM Radio.

Nobody lived life like Johnny Cash, and Cash is King plays it like it was. The Tennessee Three are in their prime, during the Sun Records and '60s prison concerts era. With an ever-growing interest in the music of Johnny Cash since the release of the biopic Walk the Line, people who never had the chance to see Cash live now have the opportunity to relive the magic that was...at The Ridgefield Playhouse.

The Tennessee Three are played by Scott Tyler on lead guitar as Luther Perkins, who captures the groundbreaking Telecaster guitar style that defined the Cash sound. Portraying bassist Marshall Grant is Junior Cain who lays down the unmistakable low end of the Upright Doghouse Bass that was a staple of the Sun Records sound. Rounding out the combo on drums is Gary Tokarz as W.S. Holland, who brings it all together with beats that kept the boys steady as a train going down the track. Last but far from least is the June Carter portrayal by Vicky St. Pierre, who performs the classic duets complete with the sass and style of Johnny's wife!
