The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield Hosts Family Dinner Night on Monday

The Boys & Girls Club invites Ridgefield Families to a free family dinner on Monday September 25, 2017, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

In partnership with the Ridgefield Department of Social Services, and the Ridgefield Community Coalition Against Substance Abuse (RCCASA), the Club is proud to support “National Family Dinner Night.”  This family fun event will include a Family Pasta Dinner, games and entertainment for the whole family.

“Dinner makes a difference!” said Tony Phillips, the town’s Director of Social Services.  “Over a decade of research has suggested that the more family dinners kids experience, the more likely they will grow up healthy and well adjusted.”

Family Dinner Night is a national initiative created by CASAColumbia to promote simple acts of parent engagement as key ways to help prevent substance use in children and teens.  Families that eat together eat more nutritiously, have teens that are less likely to be involved in risky behavior, have children with better language and academic skills, have a lower obesity rate, teach children to enjoy a variety of foods, and generally, have better relationships with each other and their community.

Family Dinner Night Schedule of Events:

6:00pm: Family Style Pasta Dinner (bring your own picnic blankets!)

6:30pm: Family Games

Each family will be issued a Family Passport to gather stamps from BGCR staff at each station.  In order to receive a stamp, all family members must take part in the activity!  Completed passports will be entered into a raffle at the end of the night.

Games include, King of the Course Inflatable Races, Home Run Derby, 9square Challenge, Games Room Activities, Family Day STAR Activities,
and much more!

8:00pm: Family Raffle Winners Announced!  (The family must be present to win!)

“We are excited to be the host site for Family Dinner Night again this year,” said Mike Flynn, the Club’s Executive Director.  “The Family Dinner Night initiative fits perfectly with our mission of inspiring youth to be the best they can be, and involving the entire family will help our members in a variety of ways.  We are looking forward to another great night with Ridgefield families!”

Family Dinner Night will kick off with a picnic style dinner, and include structured games for the whole family.  Registration must be done in advance, and can be completed on the Club’s website, www.bgcridgefield.org.  For more information, please contact Kristin Goncalves, Director of Operations, at kgoncalves@bgcridgefield.org or 203-438-8821 ext. 17.

Remember, this is a FAMILY event - bring the whole family!   This is not a drop-off event, anyone attending must accompanied by their parents.
