Ridgefield Holiday Tree Lighting Kicks Off at 5:45 pm Tomorrow!

17,000 lights, songs, and Santa will kick off the holiday season on Friday evening, November 24th once again promoting the sparkle and glitter of Ridgefield’s historic Main Street.

The annual tree lighting ceremony takes place, beginning at 5:45 p.m.in front of Town Hall.

“There are several different meanings to the lighting of the trees,” said First Selectman Rudy Marconi. “Most important is the community celebrating the holiday season together and sharing this positive experience. The kids and adults are almost equally excited for this time of the year, and there are a multitude of religious holidays being celebrated, so it’s really an event to jump-start everything. We want everyone in the community to be well and safe during this holiday season,” he adds.

Carolers always set the mood, providing a festive feel with holiday tunes.

This year the honorary flipping of the light switch is anticipated at 6:30 and will be performed by Brooke Blake. Once the switch is flipped, and all the trees lit, Santa and Mrs. Claus will come riding into town on a fire truck at approximately 6:40.

We urge everyone to shop locally. “Support our local merchants, because without them all of this wouldn’t be possible.”
