Registration opens on January 1 for Redding's A Run for the Cows

Those interested in participating are urged to register early, as the race sold out in a matter of hours last year.

Local runners, joined by those from more than 25 states and 90 Connecticut towns, will be traveling to New Pond Farm on Sunday, May 6 to partake in the half marathon, seven-miler, "Mighty Cow Challenge" (a 3.1-mile race followed by the half marathon), and the quarter-mile and three-quarter mile children's "Piglet Prance".

Registration can be found on the race website, www.reddingroadrace.com. The event will feature eight aid stations, runner awards and gifts, a fantastic crew of helpful volunteers, and a post-race gathering at New Pond Farm.

All race proceeds go to support New Pond's hands-on environmental, historical, agricultural, astronomy, and arts programs that reach more than 5,000 area students a year, bringing their in-school curriculum to life.
