The Lords of 52^nd Street – Billy Joel’s original recording and touring band – will play Billy Joel classics on January 20^th at The Ridgefield Playhouse

 The Lords of 52nd Street,  the Long Island legends who recorded and toured the world for many years with Billy Joel as his original band, bring all of the Piano Man’s greatest hits to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, January 20th at 8pm, as part of the Pepsi Rock Series Powered by Xfinity. 

Hear this brilliant band, which includes Richie Cannata on tenor saxophone, Liberty Devitto on drums and percussion, and Russell Javors on rhythm guitar, play Billy Joel classics “Big Shot,” “New York State of Mine,” “Only the Good Die Young,”  “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant” and more – just as they performed them with Joel back in the day. From starting at the bottom playing local venues in Long Island to moving up to colleges and universities across the nation, and eventually touring the world, with such hit records as The Stranger,  52nd Street and Glass Houses,  The Lords play all the classic songs just as they toured and recorded them with Billy Joel himself, helping to establish Joel’s formidable sound through more than 150 million records sold.

          Phil Ramone and Joel coined DeVitto, Cannata, Javors and Stegmeyer as The Lords of 52nd Street and went into Columbia Studios to record The Stranger.  The album was a commercial success, it holds a RIAA diamond certification (10x platinum) and several #1 singles including: "Only The Good Die Young" and "Just The Way You Are".  As Billy Joel’s backing band, The Lords of 52^nd St performed at world-famous venues including Wembley Stadium, Royal Albert Hall, the Sydney Opera House, Nassau Coliseum, Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, Budokan, the LA Forum and many others.          From New York to London to Tokyo, The Lords of 52nd Street never cease to amaze their fans and continue to be peerless. They have worked with famous and talented musicians such as: Ray Charles, Karen Carpenter, Celine Dion and Stevie Nicks. The Lords aren't afraid of changing history, as they were the first American band welcomed to play in Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1987. Their efforts helped change the path of history, and their dedication and devotion to music enshrined them in the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

Ridgefield’s own, Gabrielle Cacciola will open for The Lords of 52^nd Street. Steeped in music all 20 years of her life, this powerhouse brings her unique voice to the world. Led by both parents who sang in rival vocal groups as youngsters, music was and is part of the fabric of her life as far back as Gabrielle can remember. Gabrielle describes her childhood, “There was music playing all the time. Music from James Taylor to Frank Sinatra to Billy Joel.” Today, Gabrielle sings with her band in and around New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey playing in intimate pubs and small clubs. Gabrielle presents original songs along with some of her favorite covers including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and Chicago’s epic “25 or 6 or 4.”
