Interventional Pain Management Seminar at Founders Hall with Dr. Antonio Paz, of Orthopaedic Specialists of Connecticut

Pain management expert Dr. Antonio Paz, of Orthopaedic Specialists of Connecticut, will discuss how to treat chronic pain without opioid drugs in a seminar at Founders Hall on Friday, January 26 at 1 pm. Paz is a specialist in the relatively new field of interventional pain management, which uses minimally invasive procedures to diagnose, decrease, and eliminate the cause of pain. These office-based procedures include the use of injections to calm inflammation, high-energy radio waves to block nerve signals, and the patient’s own plasma or stem cells to promote healing of damaged tissues.

According to Paz, chronic pain is among the most common reasons for seeking medical attention and is reported in up to 50 percent of patients seen in primary care, with the majority of those patients seeking relief for low back pain. With that in mind, he will discuss special treatments for spinal arthritis, fractures and compressions.

Board-certified in both anesthesia and internal medicine, Paz received advanced fellowship training in interventional pain management at the Comprehensive Spine and Pain Management Center of New York City.  He has held faculty positions with Yale University School of Medicine and New York Medical College. Paz’s presentation is free and open to the public.

Founders Hall, a donor-supported education and recreation center for people age 60 and older, is located at 193 Danbury Road. For more information, call 203.431.7000.
