“Empowering Singles” Seminar to be Held at Library TONIGHT

A panel of professional women will address legal, financial, social, and family issues in “Flying Solo Part 3,” a free seminar for those who are single, divorcing, or widowed.  Co-sponsored by the Ridgefield Brown Bag Network and Ridgefield Library, the seminar will be held on Tuesday, September 19, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the library.

“There has been an overwhelmingly positive reaction to our ‘Flying Solo’ seminars,” said Barbara McMahon, one of the members of Brown Bag Network who coordinated the event.  “We also received many requests to open up the series to men as well as women, and are happy to do so.  There’s a lot of important information to share with everyone, and avoiding potential problems is not gender-specific.”

Being on one’s own, whether by choice or by circumstance, can be extremely challenging, said McMahon, a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch.  “Our panel of specialists will cover key issues to help navigate the emotional, legal and financial aspects of being single.”

Four professional women will share anecdotes and advice, as well as present their Top Ten tips.  Topics will range from financial and tax implications to feeling and looking good.  Scheduled to speak are: Rosemarie Ferrante, a divorce mediator; Kristina Kelly, an attorney practicing in the fields of trust and estate planning, elder law and residential real estate; Candace Schrull, a trust and estate tax professional; and JoAnn Inserra Duncan, a Reiki master and owner of Turning Point Healing Arts & Education Center.

“Knowledge is power,” said McMahon, “and our hopes are that this seminar will inspire, empower and educate.”
