My Ridgefield Favorite Five series continues with 15-year resident and Ridgefield business owner, Maria Markus. Maria is the owner of the Tutoring Club and a proud supporter of the community. You can often see her around town ~ shopping local, eating local and socializing local!
Maria Markus' Favorite Five of Ridgefield:
1. Restaurants: Terrasole and Luc's. I love the food in both places. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, and I love the fact that the owners are always present and visible.
2. Entertainment: Ridgefield Playhouse. It's such an asset to have a venue of this caliber in our town. The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is also an exciting place to visit; I try to go often so I can catch the latest exhibit. I'm also looking forward to the Prospector Theater. I am sure there will be exciting things happening there. The Ridgefield Theater Barn is always a treat. I try to go there a few times each year, and so far I have not been disappointed.
3. Food: No. 109 Cheese and Wine Market and Ross' Bread. Ross Bread is also my favorite coffee shop in town.
5. Shopping: I love our Main Street, and I am so happy that my business is now located here (although I miss my coffee fix from Ross' Bread). We have so many specialty shops here -- from Hutton's Fine Men's Wear (for him) and She She (for her), to Turkey Ridge where you can always count on getting a great gift.
About Maria:
My husband Pavel and I moved to Ridgefield from the Boston area in 1998 with our two kids, Alex and Genie. They have graduated from RHS and moved on, but it looks like we are here to stay. In 2004 I opened Tutoring Club at Copps Hill, and two years ago moved to Main St. I love being part of the lively Ridgefield Community, and I really enjoy getting to know Ridgefield families though my work.
