Looking for a Summer Job?

With warm weather fast approaching, HamletHub has been asked by numerous young adults about summer employment.  We've done a little research and here are a few opportunities.

Woodcock Nature Center is currently accepting applications for camp counselors to work from early-June to mid-August.

Information from Woodcock Nature Center:

This is a paid Environmental Education Internship and is ideal for college students who love to be outside and who love children.

You must commit to the entire summer (early June – mid August – 8:30-4:30) with an occasional Friday night campout. We are looking for mature, self-motivated, fun college students to work with campers ages 3-12. An ideal candidate is a college student who is studying Environmental Science, Elementary Education, Biology or a related field. Some other qualifications we are looking for include experience with arts and crafts, music and games. CPR, Standard First Aid and Lifesaving certification would be a plus as well.

We offer three types of camp experiences – we have a half day Early Explorers (3-4 years old) and Junior Naturalist (preK-1st) camp. This is a more traditional camp, with counselor-led activities, hikes, stories and crafts. Junior Adventurer camp is offered as a full day camp for kindergarteners and 1st graders on certain weeks. For children who are in 2nd – 7th grade, we offer our very popular Adventure camp. This is a full day camp and activities may include: canoeing, bouldering, shelter-building, animal handling, campfire cooking, wading, etc. Each counselor will get a chance to work with each age group during the course of the summer.

If you are interested, send a cover letter, resume and three references to Sarah Breznen in care of our email WoodcockNatureCenter@yahoo.com.

Green Chimneys (near Brewster, NY), a not-for-profit organization helping young people nurture connections to the community and the natural world has some opportunities for camp counselors (18+) and junior camp counselors (16+).  Here is a link to some of their seasonal opportunities.

If your business or organization has some summer or seasonal opportunities for young people, please email terri@hamlethub.com for inclusion in our listing.
