Eight Ridgefield HS students named semifinalists in the 60th annual National Merit® Scholarship Program

Last week, the National Merit® Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced their Semifinalists in the 60th annual National Merit® Scholarship Program. Nationwide, only the high school students with the highest PSAT/NMSQT® Selection Index scores (critical reading + mathematics + writing skills scores) qualify as Semifinalists and continue in the National Merit® Scholarship Program.

To be considered for a National Merit® Scholarship, Semifinalists must advance to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards and by submitting a variety of information for NMSC selectors to evaluate, such as information about the school's curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, the high school official's written recommendation, information about the student's activities and leadership, and the Finalist's own essay. Winners will be announced in the spring of 2015.

Of the approximately 16,000 Semifinalists, eight are students at Ridgefield High School.

Congratulations to the following Semifinalists:

Baughman, William S.

Colao, Stephanie R.

Garlick, Paul K.

Krishna, Avesh J.

Kutler, William S.

O’Hara, James

Savino, Allison
