Emma Glubiak of Ridgefield Returns from Studying Abroad in India

Emma Glubiak of Ridgefield, a first-year student at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., recently returned from studying abroad in India during 2014-15 winter break. Glubiak is a graduate of Ridgefield High School.

Glubiak was among sixteen students who traveled to various locations in India during an intensive, three-week, faculty-led course to learn how economic growth has impacted different segments of society, including aspects of gender, ethnicity, and religious identity. Meeting with many individuals -- from business owners to NGO workers to school children -- helped the students have a better understanding of the connections among economic prosperity and human rights, infrastructure development, and government policy.

Lafayette is a top liberal arts college with 2,400 students and 215 full-time faculty that offers a wide variety of undergraduate degree programs including engineering. With close proximity to New York City and Philadelphia, Lafayette has one of the highest endowment-per-student rates in the nation. This means ample resources to fuel student research, and provide opportunities for study abroad, internships and field work. It means outstanding facilities, Division I sports, and funding for 250 student groups on one of the most beautiful campuses in the country.
