Assistant Superintendent of Special Services is leaving Ridgefield

A message from Deb Low, Superintendent of Schools:

Assistant Superintendent of Special Services Karen Berasi will be appointed as Superintendent of the Suffield Public Schools.

I am happy for Karen but her leaving is a huge loss for our district.

Karen Berasi has worked in Ridgefield for seven years. She began as Director of Special Education and was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Special Services this past summer.   Karen has provided both vision and stability for our special education and support services programs.  Karen has focused on the students and ensured they receive quality services that match their needs.  Given the nature of the position, Karen has had to make difficult and at times unpopular decisions but she has earned the respect of both families and staff.

Karen has exhibited strong leadership, commitment to students, passion about education, and excellent professional skills.   We are grateful  for her service and she will be sorely missed.

We are contracting with CES Search Services to assist with the search for Karen’s replacement  and Dr. Karen Baldwin will lead the process.
