Baseball legend Mariano Rivera visits Ridgefield

Mariano Rivera, former New York Yankee and arguably the greatest closer in Major League Baseball history, stopped by the Ridgefield Boys and Girls Cub today for a special interactive question and answer session.

Mariano graciously took pictures with fans and answered questions as he talked about his baseball career, his charitable foundation, his work on rebuilding a church in New Rochelle and his personal relationship with God, both on the mound and in life itself.

Among the notable highlights from the conversation was when Mariano explained how God helped change his normal throwing fastball into the best cutter seen in MLB.  He also made an AMAZING, if not shocking, proclamation that even though the Red Sox were his team's bitter rival, Fenway Park was his favorite stadium to take the mound next to Yankee Stadium.
