Bakers Invited to Compete for the Cake Contest at Keeler Tavern Museum’s Family Day

Keeler Tavern Museum’s Family Day, a fun-filled history extravaganza (free admission) on Saturday, June 13, will feature a cake contest. Bakers of all capabilities are invited to join the fun, bringing their creations to the Museum at 132 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT, by 10:00 a.m. that day to be enjoyed by the hundreds of attendees expected.

Submissions are invited from both amateurs and professionals. Professional bakers’ submissions will be offered in a silent auction that will occur during Family Day, with proceeds of the auction going to support Museum operations. Winners of the silent auction bidding will take home a professionally baked cake to enjoy.

Amateur bakers’ submissions will be judged on appearance and taste by a panel of prominent Ridgefielders: Weir Farm National Historic Site’s Cassie Werne; Ridgefield Library’s Executive Director Chris Nolan; Paul Gervais of the Ridgefield Arts Council; Liz Gagnon, Catering Manager at Nature’s Temptations; and Joel Third, President of the Museum’s Board of Directors. Prizes will be awarded to the amateurs, with the winners announced on Family Day between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m., after which their cakes will be served to event attendees.

Professional bakers wanting to participate should contact the Museum by phone; amateur competitors will find rules and forms for submission at the Museum’s website Events page or calling the Museum at 203/438-5485.
