Local author & Internet guru says that self diagnosis is a growing trend

Last week, we shared an interview that Sam Brusco, Associate Editor of Medical Design Technology, conducted with healthcare guru & Internet pioneer, John Patrick. The duo focused on mHealh.

Basically, if anyone reading this post has ever looked up a medical symptom online, they are part of the growing trend of Americans who use the Internet to self-diagnose.  Read the interview here

But what exactly is mHealth? We asked Danbury resident John Patrick, founder of Attitude LLC, and author of two books that focus on the Internet and healthcare, to give us an inside look.

Simply put,mHeath stands for mobile health. Patrick explains, "It represents much more than the simple name implies. It will change how we think about our health, provide tools to help us self-diagnose and collaborate with our doctors, and will enable collection of a large amount of data for the benefit of the entire population."

Patrick says that self-diagnosis Is here to stay, and new technology makes it easier. He talks three new sources of information about mHealth on his blog here.

"I hope illuminate the state and future of this important healthcare topic," Patrick says.
