Friday afternoon middle school frolic in downtown Ridgefield!

Ridgefield Public Schools have officially bid farewell to summer and said hello to another school year. For afternoon travelers (particularly Friday travelers) this means that the downtown area will be buzzing with middle school students who are lucky enough to take an after-school walk to Main Street from East Ridge Middle School.

It's wonderful to see town so busy and kids so joy-filled.  Please exercise caution (and patience) when traveling through town during the afternoon hours- it's busy and oftentimes kids dart across the street in pursuit of their friends. 

Here are some important "back to school" dates:

  • School is CLOSED on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.
  • School is CLOSED on Monday, September 14 in honor of Rosh Hashanah.  
  • School is CLOSED on Wednesday, September 23 in honor of Yom Kippur.
  • Community members are invited to meet Ridgefield's new Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Baldwin on Friday, September 25 at The Aldrich. Learn more about this event here
