Labor Day Weekend Picks from 109 Cheese and Wine

Labor Day weekend is upon us! Time to hit the lake, go camping, go to the historic races at Lime Rock Park or just hangout with friends and without question - enjoy some cheese and wine!

109 Cheese and Wine Labor Day Weekend Picks

"The Cheese"

Mt Tam, Cowgirl Creamery

Mt Tam, Cowgirl Creamery's signature cheese, is a smooth, creamy, elegant triple-cream. It is made with organic milk from the Straus Family Dairy. Mt Tam is firm, yet buttery with a mellow, earthy flavor reminiscent of white mushrooms.

Camembert Fermier

This farmhouse Camembert is made according to traditional methods and has a supple and creamy texture. The rind is white, cream in color and rusty on the ridge. With its intense stable and farmhouse notes, the cheese is a real delight on the palate. It ripened for at least 26 days.

Crémeux des Citeaux Aux Truffes

Aged by master affineur Rodolphe Le Meunier, this is a bloomy, cow's milk, triple cream has a 100% real black truffle center (Yummmmm!!!) . That translates to 75% butterfat deliciousness. But that's not all. Thanks to the real truffle, expect a much more authentic, and therefore more expensive, truffle experience here. Pair this with champagne and a crusty baguette and enjoy!

Crémeux des Citeaux

The Crémeux des Cîteaux has a milky and butter flavor. The more this cheese is matured, the more its flavor is refined and the taste will remain in your mouth. This is a creamy cheese, which flows slowly and spontaneously in the spoon when it is matured and is a must have on your cheese board this weekend.

Maplebrook Burrata

Burrata's flavor is of fresh milk, with textural layers varying from the snap of the outside skin of stretched cheese to the soft cream interior. This cheese is perfectly paired with fresh tomatoes with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper. Or it can also be paired nicely with fresh figs sprinkled with a touch of salt.

"The Wine"

2014 Pastou Sancerre

A crisp & refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley in France.

$20/btl.

2014 Peyrassol Rosé

The quintessential Provence rosé.  Lush strawberry and nectarine flavors with a back drop of the Mediterranean Sea breeze.

$23/btl

Monsecco Nebbiolo "Pratogrande"

This is hands down one the single best Nebbiolo's that we have ever had at the $20 mark - trademark flavors of tart cherry and earthy aromas of the forests of northern Italy.  This one is not to be missed!
