Growing Attendance and Great Music on October 3rd
The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra opening concert on Saturday, October 3rd, was a triumph in myriad ways.
First and foremost, the music! The RSO’s performance was, simply put, spectacular! Playing before an exceptionally enthusiastic and encouraging audience, the orchestra reached new musical heights to open the 2015-16 Season. Under the baton of Music Director Jerry Steichen, the RSO brought incredible energy and passion to two Russian masterpieces- Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances and Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony. And as a Teutonic interlude, guest pianist Jason Hardink’s virtuosic interpretation of Mendelssohn’s First Piano Concerto brought the audience to its feet!
And what an audience it was! The RSO’s opening night performance saw a considerable increase in overall size in comparison to last season’s opener- single ticket sales jumped by 21% over last season! And equally exciting is the geographic growth in RSO audiences. Well over 60% of the orchestra’s audience reside outside of Ridgefield and make the trek to hear world-class music by our area’s premier musical organization.
