Fertility Advocacy – #StartAsking
Last week, RMACT hosted a National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) Family & Friends Night – an evening devoted to fertility advocacy.
Over 40 people attended, and we adopted this year’s NIAW theme of #StartAsking, a campaign that encourages people with and without infertility to #StartAsking their questions as they relate to the world of fertility. It’s an opportunity to raise awareness about this disease, motivate others to commit to the cause, and call on our Lawmakers and legislators to better support issues important to the fertility community.
We collected letters to our Congresspeople, urging them to Co-sponsor bills that relate to fertility coverage for Veterans (S 469, HR 3365 and HR 2257), adoption tax credit (HR 2434), and to support funding of the CDC National Action Plan which declared infertility as a public health issue in 2014. We took photos of questions from patients, our board certified Reproductive Endocrinologists, staff members, and fellow supporters, and compiled them in the video below to continue to raise awareness about infertility, and family building access for everyone.

Matt is the Project Coordinator on the Program Development team at Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) and Gay Parents To Be. He received his undergraduate degree in English from Fairfield University.
