Earlier today, East Ridge Principal Marty Fiedler sent an email to parents regarding the behavior of some students who spend time in the downtown area after school hours. We posted about it here.
Throughout the day, Facebook was buzzing with comments from parents, local merchants, and community members. Apparently, also buzzing was Mr. Fiedler's inbox! He sent out a second email to parents just now. He begins, "It is not like me to send out two messages in the same day, but I think I over-reacted to some of the phone calls that came in about student behavior in town."
Read the note in its entirety below.
Dear Families,
It is not like me to send out two messages in the same day, but I think I over-reacted to some of the phone calls that came in about student behavior in town.
Going to town is very important to many of our students and I would not like to be the cause of them losing that right.
It seems that the complaints stem from student behavior in Ballard Park.
As I said in my earlier message, I will go on The Morning Show this Friday to speak about appropriate behavior in town, which is not an issue for most students.
I want our students to have a safe and enjoyable experience in town and I know that you are expecting the same for them.
Sincerely,
Marty Fiedler
