Patriotism Reigns in Ridgefield Sans Parade

Ridgefield residents are testimony that patiotism runs deeper than a parade. Main Steet is buzzing today sans the traditional Memorial Day march. Backyard BBQs, kids having bake sales for local charities, the Hot Dog Man with the colors of the flag atop his head (and a line at his stand), outdoor diners bedecked in red, white, and blue - all happening in downtown Ridgefield!

We checked in with First Selectman Rudy Marconi today in regard to the American Legion's decision to cancel the parade. "Everyone agrees that it was the right call based on information available last night, " said. And, Ridgefield was not alone in canceling their Memorial Day Parade; Wilton, Danbury, Southbury, and Norwalk.

Today, with or without a parade, we salute the men and women who died serving this great country we call home.
