Updated Weather Forecast for Fairfield County from NOAA

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for Northern CT and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for Southern CT.

Sunday afternoon:

Snow, moderate to occasionally heavy at times.  A sleet/rain line is expected to reach the southwest coast by 1:00 PM and start moving inland.  The rain/sleet line is expected to reach central CT by 3:00 PM and into the Hartford area by 5:00 PM. Along the coast, a few inches of accumulation are expected before the changeover.  Inland, several inches of accumulation are expected before the changeover.  The impact on afternoon travel is expected to range from minor in southern CT to moderate in northern CT with snow and sleet on roads in Northern CT and slush on roads in southern CT.  

The core of the heaviest snow and mix is currently expected between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Tonight:

Mixed precipitation in central and southern CT changing back to all snow and becoming lighter this evening.  A break in the precipitation is expected overnight with lows in the upper 20's.

Monday:

Some light snow may wrap around the storm and re-enter eastern CT Mondaymorning during the rush hour.  The impact on the morning rush hour is expected to be minor to moderate.  This light snow will be accompanied by strong NW winds gusting to 40 - 50 MPH at times by early Monday afternoon which may cause some power outages.  Another inch of accumulation is possible by early afternoon in eastern CT.    The light snow is expected to end for good by mid Monday afternoon with a minor impact remaining for the afternoon rush hour.

Total accumulations are currently forecast to range from 1" - 3" along the coast, 2" - 4" in southern CT, 4" - 6" in the Hartford area and up to 6" - 8" in northern CT.  The overall impact of this event is currently expected to be minor to moderate.  No significant coastal flooding or icing is expected with this storm.

The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security will continue to closely monitor this storm.
