CT Airport Authority Announce Launch of Nonstop Service Between Bradley & San Francisco with United Airlines
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) and United Airlines today announced the debut of new, seasonal nonstop United Airlines service between Bradley International Airport (BDL) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Beginning June 8, 2017 and running through September 5, the flight offers business commuters and tourists another option when traveling to the Greater Hartford area.
“It is undeniable that we are witnessing a period of significant growth at Bradley International Airport with the addition of yet another nonstop route to another major hub,” Governor Malloy said. “What I hope everyone understands with these ongoing developments is that adding more airlines and more routes opens the door for increased economic opportunities for business travelers who see Hartford as a destination where their companies can do business with even more convenience. This is exactly why I pushed for the creation of the Connecticut Airport Authority several years ago, because we see Bradley as a key economic driver in our region. We will continue utilizing the airport as yet another resource to grow jobs and increase business activity in Connecticut.”

Governor Nancy Wyman said. “Direct service to San Francisco will bring more business and innovation, increase tourism opportunity, and is another indicator that Bradley is a global competitor in the travel sector.”
“United is proud to offer our Connecticut customers a convenient and comfortable travel experience between Hartford and our premier Pacific gateway hub in San Francisco,” Aileen Moriarty, United’s manager of Connecticut Sales, said. “This new route will provide multiple connections to destinations along the U.S. West Coast and to United’s international routes to China and business centers throughout Asia.”
“Bradley International Airport already connects passengers to more than thirty popular destinations with nonstop flights, and one of the Airport Authority’s key strategic goals is to continue growing the airport’s menu of flights, with a particular emphasis on additional West Coast service,” CAA Board Chair Charles R. Gray said. “We are very pleased to be expanding the airport’s route structure with the introduction of this new service, offering our passengers added connectivity to the West Coast and beyond.”
The service will utilize an Airbus 319 with a 128-seat configuration. The outbound flight will leave BDL at 6:30 AM (ET), with an arrival at SFO at 9:46 AM (PT). The inbound flight will depart SFO at 10:30 PM (PT), with an arrival at BDL at 6:53 AM (ET).
“United has been part of Bradley’s network for more than 50 years. We are pleased to strengthen this ongoing partnership with the introduction of the new route to San Francisco, and pleased that United will be expanding their footprint at Bradley,” CAA Executive Director Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E, said. “This new route is an important addition to our growing roster of flights, and it is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to provide our travel community with an exceptional travel experience to and from Bradley.”
In 2016, Bradley marked its fourth consecutive year of year-over-year passenger growth. This was heightened by a number of service launches, including Aer Lingus service to Dublin, Ireland; American Airlines service to Los Angeles; United Airlines service to Denver; and OneJet service to Pittsburgh.
Over the past year, Bradley has also diversified its menu of amenities. Recent openings include an Escape Lounge, Phillips Seafood restaurant, a duty-free shop, a Customs and Border Protection Global Entry enrollment center, and a mothers’ nursing room. In the coming months, a Two Roads Brewery Tap Room is also scheduled to open at the airport.
The CAA was established in 2011 with the goal of transforming BDL and five of the state’s general aviation airports (Danielson, Groton/New London, Hartford-Brainard, Waterbury-Oxford, and Windham Airports) into vibrant economic drivers. It is a quasi-public agency and has the flexibility and autonomy to streamline processes and maintain responsiveness to economic opportunities for the airports. The CAA Board of Directors consists of 11 members with a broad spectrum of experience in aviation-related and various other industries.
BDL is the second largest airport in New England, with a customer base that covers the entire Northeast.
