Chalk Festival to take Downtown Ridgefield by storm on May 6

The Community Comes Together for Chalk Festival at the Spring Stroll on Saturday, May 6

In addition to Ridgefield students and members of the Guild of Artists, four professional Chalk Artists will descend on Downtown Ridgefield for the Annual Spring Stroll and Chalk Festival.

"Our professional chalk artists are all now confirmed for the Spring Stroll and will be joining us in just over five weeks," says Stroll Chair, Emma Hardiman.

Hailing from Florida is Chalk Artist Janet Tombros. "Last year Janet completed a 3-D art piece outside Addessi Jewelers," explains Hardiman. (See photo #2).

The 375th Anniversary of the Battle of Ridgefield will provide the backdrop for Chalk Artist Mark Panzarino from New York City who will set up shop outside Town Hall.

Katie Better will make her way to Ridgefield from Long Island. "Last year she completed a circular chalk drawing outside AR Kids," says Hardiman. (See photo #1)

Chalk Festival newbie is Sara Wenger. "Members of the Spring Stroll committee have seen her proposed work and can't wait for it to be completed on Saturday May 6," says Hardiman.

Hardiman says that the Downtown Ridgefield Spring Stroll is working closely with the schools and the Guild to assure the work of local artists is shared and admired. "The student's work last year was such a huge success, and new in 2017 is the inclusion of the Middle Schools, and also an an invite to the Ridgefield Guild of Artists members to join the Chalk Festival," says Hardiman.

"The sidewalks of Main Street, Catoonah Street and Bailey Avenue are going to look fabulous," declares Hardiman.
