Ridgefield Little League Honors Memory of Longtime Volunteer & Administrator Patti Capilli

Editor's note: Since we posted this story about RLL paying tribute to Patti Capilli, there we some heartfelt comments, one of which we would like to share with you. Carrie, a mom of one of the RLL team members said, "My 11 yr old came home from his practice telling me about the patch and said 'This is another reason I am determined to find a cure for breast cancer'. He is all too aware of how devastating this disease is...Our dearest family friend has been battling for some years now so he has seen it first hand and talks regularly about how he can help put an end to it."

Today is Opening Day for Ridgefield Little League 9U Baseball teams. While the weather is a bit dreary, players and coaches of 9U and 11U teams are filled with warm sunshine as they honor one of the league's longtime volunteers and Ridgefield Little League Administrator, Patti Capilli.

The cap you see here, inscribed with a bright pink PC will be worn by all 9U players. In addition, George Brennan 9U Manager says,“11U Jerseys are being fitted with Patti patches on their sleeves." “She deserved it!” he adds.

Patti passed away last month after a long and brave battle with cancer. She dedicated her time and talent to Little League - even from her hospital bed as she neared the end of life.

“Ridgefield Little League was lucky to be one of Patti’s passions. We benefited from her unwavering spirit, dedication and love. Patti will always be a part of our mission and memories,” said Ridgefield Little League.

Next Saturday, April 29 is the official home Ridgefield Little League Opening Ceremony at Governor's Field. "You will see all teams from all age groups in all divisions with a pink PC on hats or on jersey sleeves," says Brennan.
