Great Expectations Achieved at Ridgefield Library Gala

Hundreds of community members descended upon Ridgefield Library last night for the Great Expectations Gala which celebrated two library visionaries and tremendous community advocates, Sally and Rudy Ruggles, the recipients of the 2017 Hope H. Swenson Visionary Award.

Chaired by Dean and Theresa Miller, and David and Julie Yaun, the evening was true to its theme of “Great Expectations”. A lively cocktail hour, elegant sit down dinner prepared by Sarah Bouissou Catering, and a live auction lead by Master of Ceremonies and auctioneer, Ira Joe Fisher, added pizzazz to this annual event.

Cornerstones of community advocacy and philanthropy, the good works of Sally and Rudy Ruggles were brought to life through poignant testimonials from First Selectman, Rudy Marconi and Dr. John Murphy, President and CEO of Western Connecticut Health Network.  A lively “Where in the World are Rudy and Sally Ruggles” trivia game gave attendees an inside look into the lives of two Ridgefielders who have made an indelible mark on our special town.

Thanks to all who worked tirelessly to assure Great Expectations were realized by all!

Many businesses, nonprofits and community supporters shared words of thanks to the Library and the honorees, Rudy and Sally Ruggles. This, written by the Ellis family, sums the sentiment up quite well:
