New Baseball Field Lights Up in Ridgefield

At last night’s Planning and Zoning meeting, Ridgefield Little League hit a homerun. The application for a new lighted baseball field was approved by a vote of 7-2.

“Technically they approved a ‘draft’ of the application. The P&Z staff will now draft a formal approval for a final procedural vote which is expected next week,” says Ridgefield Little League Director of Public Relations, Tom Rutunno.

Located on a now vacant lot off Route 7 at Simpaug Turnpike, the plans for the new field include LED lights, announcer's booth, concessions stand, a storage room and have plenty of parking.

“The final application will include a few new conditions,” says Rutunno. While not contained in the original application, Ridgefield Little League supported adding these stipulations as part of the final application based on feedback obtained from the public hearing process.

Ridgefield Little League has agreed only to turn on the lights when the field is in use. In addition, the lights must be off by 10:00 pm on practice and/or game days and the public address system will not be used after 8:59pm in accordance with Town regulations.
