Main Street Eyesore Soon to Be Demolished

What's going on with the building on the corner of Gilbert and Main Street?

The large white(ish) building on the corner of Gilbert and Main Street, across from The Elms, is now fenced in and the land is being cleared of trees and shrubbery. The building, which has been unkempt for more than a decade, will be demolished next week; in its place, five upscale homes will be erected.

Last summer, Ridgefield Planning & Zoning unanimously approved an application submitted by Michael Eppoliti and his investment partners Stefano Zandri and Woody Harford, to build five single family homes on the .859 parcel of land located at 509 Main Street.

There was some social media speculation that the property is zoned 8-30g (affordable housing). This is incorrect. The property is MSDD [Main Street Design District] zone, which is the zone under which The Elms project was completed.

Architecturally designed by Ridgefielder Jeff Mose, the 3 bedroom, 3 bath homes will range in size from 2,300 square feet to 2,800 square feet and will be equipped with 2 car garages and elevators.
