The RVNA Autumn Dinner: A Celebration Of Health, Hope & Life

Co-chaired by Marcie and Peter Coffin and Valerie and Jeroen van Beek, Saturday night’s RVNA Autumn Dinner celebrated the RVNA’s mission: to provide exceptional home and community health care services, support public health and safety and promote the highest quality of life.

The balmy fall night began on the patio of Silver Spring Country Club where two hundred RVNA friends and supporters enjoyed cocktails, a craft beer tasting, raw bar, and hor d'oeuvres while bidding on silent auction items that promised weekend getaways, sporting events, shopping experiences, ski vacations and more. Live music, courtesy of brothers Jim and John Endee, added to the magical autumn evening.

The fun (and fundraising) continued as guests made their way inside the club where a farm-to-table dinner awaited and the mission of the RVNA was brought to life through personal testimonials and a powerful video showcasing current RVNA patients.

Guests were brought to their feet after hearing the words of Dan Snelwar, who, In the pinnacle of his professional career, suddenly lost nearly all of his cognitive and physical skills.

His wife Ashley recalls the frightening morning. “I was unable to get Dan up for work. He was in ICU for over a week, he has no memory of it.”

Dan, who had slipped into a coma, suffered a brain injury that left him with cognitive defects as well as physical challenges.

He and Ashley turned to the RVNA for help.

Presently, Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapists from the RVNA are working with Dan. Based on his current progress, the RVNA believes Dan will make a full recovery.

With his wife Ashley by his side, Dan shared his story with dinner guests. He expressed his gratitude, crediting the RVNA for the great strides he has made in his recovery.

After dinner and closing remarks from RVNA Chairman of the Board, Vicki Mueller, many guests lingered outside surrounded by the glow of a fire pit, enjoying a warm September evening in the company of fellow RVNA supporters and friends.

The Autumn Dinner is RVNA’s largest, most important fundraising event of the year.  Funds raised support home health care services for the uninsured and underinsured, well child clinics and community wellness programs.

Thanks to the event co-chairs, the entire Autumn Dinner committee, and to all who made the night memorable including Theresa Santoro, RVNA Director of Philanthropy, MJ Heller, RVNA Chair of the Board of Directors, Vicki Mueller, and the entire RVNA team.
