Ridgefield Police are warning residents to expect traffic delays in town this weekend.
Not only is the Half Marathon taking place on Sunday morning between 7am and 10am, but the Connecticut Department of Transportation is detouring traffic on Route 7 due to the replacement of the Route 7 bridge over the Norwalk River in Ridgefield.
According to the CT DOT, the weekend closure of Route 7 is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 29, 2017, at 8:00 PM and end on Monday, October 2, 2017, at 6:00 AM. Traffic will be detoured via Route 35 and Route 102.
"Due to the Half Marathon and the Route 7 bridgework, we are expecting a high volume of traffic and delays in the downtown area on Sunday 10/1/17 between the hours of 7:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m. Your patience and understanding is appreciated," police say.
The DOT says that the brige project is scheduled to be completed by October 16, 2017.
