Accumulating Snow Forecasted for Rush Hour Today

NOAA is forecasting snow for this evening's rush hour as a low pressure moves northeast off the mid-Atlantic coast. See map here.

A widespread dry powderysnowfall of between 1-3 inches is expected to fall late this afternoon through around 1:00 am on Saturday. Maximum hourly snowfall rates are forecast to be less than ½ inch per hour.  

The heaviest snow of 2-3 inches is forecast across Eastern Long Island, where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 1 am Saturday.  Snowfall from around 1 to 2 inches is forecast across the rest of the local area.

NOAA says there is a 1 in 10 chance of receiving 2-4 inches of snow.
