Fall Art Classes For Children & Adults

Georgetown School of the Arts is pleased to announce Fall 2014 classes at 25 Old Mill Road, West Redding.

Weaving runs October 3 – November 21 on Fridays. Students have the opportunity to work on a floor loom, table loom, and rigid heddle loom. They will learn how to make a warp, dress a loom, and explore weaving patterns. Projects like woven bags, scarves and mug rugs will be made. Class is limited to three students, 8 years or older or by special arrangement with the instructor. $230 per session with $30 materials fee.

Woodworking class Session 1 starts September 19 – October 24 on Fridays for ages 8 – 13.  Session 2 runs November 7 – December 19. Students experience the rewards of learning a useful skill while creating a handmade wooden object. These classes take place in the instructor’s wood shop using an assortment of hand tools. Students also receive one on one instruction in the handling of simple entry-level power tools to complete a variety of projects tailored to the skill level of the student. Students learn to plan, measure, cut and assemble the pieces of their project during a six-week session. Projects are chosen which offer a fun and enriching experience as well as provide students with a life long comfort in using the most common woodworking tools. Class is limited to a maximum of 4 students. $220 per session with $30 materials fee.

Printmaking Mixed Media runs September 18  – November 13 on Thursdays for ages 8-13. Students work with a printing press to learn a variety of printing techniques, using a variety of mediums. They will use their prints to further their creation into a painting, collage, or 3-dimentional piece of art. $220 per six-week session. All materials included.

Adult Drawing and Painting Session 1 starts October 1 – October 29 on Wednesdays. Session 2 runs November 5 – December 10 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This class is a lovely way to spend some time on you, with beginner to advanced students welcome. This class offers individual instruction for independent projects, regardless of skill level. All material provided unless you prefer your own. Mediums available are drawing, colored pencils, pastels, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic paints, and clay. $180 per five-week session.
