Ridgefield remembers the victims of 9-11 in prayer & song

On a very somber anniversary of an event that changed the fabric of our world, there was still some beauty in the air as Ridgefield came together in solidarity at the Rec Center to remember all the brave souls who lost their lives 13 years ago today, 9-11-2001.

Due to the threat of rain, the ceremonyl was moved from Ridgefield's 9/11 Monument, located on the grounds of the Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Center, to the Charter Oak Room inside the Rec Center.

The always wonderful Ridgefield Chorale sang a beautiful rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and the Ridgefield Police Department honor-guard and fire department color guard gave a very patriotic salute, with Rudy Marconi leading us all in an emotional pledge of allegiance. Terrence Shay gave us all goosebumps with his amazing bagpipe version of "Amazing Grace" and the evening was capped off by a wonderful benediction from Msgr. Laurence Bronkiewicz of Saint Mary's Parish.

On behalf of HamletHub, I, along with the HamletHub staff, give a heartfelt salute to all the heroes of September 11.  We will NEVER forget.
