Services planned at St. Mary Church for Rosalie Polak

Rosalie McGarry Polak, 89 passed away peacefully on September 15, 2014 surrounded by family and loved ones, in the comfort of her home.

Born in Bayside, New York, the daughter of Julia McCarthy and John McGarry, she was the loving wife of J. Robert Polak for 51 years. Rosalie was a homemaker followed by a career from which she retired. After her retirement from the American Institute of CPA in New York, she and her husband moved to Ridgefield to be closer to her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bob, her sister, Loretta Hynes, her brother John McGarry and her grandson Christopher L. Polak.

She is survived by her two brothers James McGarry of Pinehurst, North Carolina and Kevin McGarry of Lexington, Kentucky, her son, Chip and his wife, Marge Polak, of Manchester, New Hampshire, and daughters, Kathleen and her husband Peter Murphy and Mary Pat and her husband, Robert Brody of Wilton.

In addition, she is survived by six grandchildren, Kiley and Peter Murphy, Paige Polak, and Conor, Matthew and Kyle Brody.

She epitomized what a mother, wife, grandmother and friend should be. She was beautiful, elegant, loving, nurturing, intelligent, compassionate and made those around her comfortable and loved. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends but always remembered.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Smolik on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 10:15 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.

Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Wilton.

There will be no calling hours.
