Actress Katie Hilliard ’02 Visits at Wooster School

Actress Katie Hilliard ’02 returned to Wooster School for a visit on October 21.

Katie Hilliard of the Great Class of 2002 came back to campus last week to visit with faculty and friends and share her experience with students in the Upper School. A professional actress, Katie has been in several movies [The Embrace (2008), Long Until Gone (2011) and Betting on Baker (2015)]. Most recently, she appeared as Angie Stanton in the season premiere of Criminal Minds on CBS.

During a special Upper School Assembly, Theatre Director, Don Bovingloh led a question and answer session with Katie and the entire Wooster Upper School.

Katie shared that she knew she wanted to become an actress at 4 years old while watching “Reading Rainbow.” Her experience at Wooster, from 3rd through 12th grade, allowed her to explore her love of theatre. In her words, “While at Wooster it was more than the theatre department that crafted me as a person. The Wooster community is unlike any other that I have experienced,” she continued. “The relationships that I made here, especially with the faculty, and the nurturing that I experienced just made me into the person that I am today,” Katie added.

Katie went on to talk about the self-help program at Wooster. “It helped me in my life,” she remarked.

Katie studied theatre at Elon University and received her BFA in Acting, performed on stage in New York City and then moved on to Los Angeles, California.

She is a true success story of a Wooster graduate! Congratulations, Katie!
