Friends of Ridgefield fire victims set up Go Fund Me page

Thursday night at about 7:00 pm a fire broke out at Cook Close in Casagmo. EMS from Danbury, Georgetown, and Wilton aided Ridgefield Fire Department in their fire and rescue efforts.  Three people were injured as a result of the fire, two of them critically. Mother and son, Sandy and Joe Reyes have severe burns. Sandy experienced complications due to smoke inhalation. She had to be resuscitated at the scene.

Friends of the Reyes family have created a "Go Fund Me" page in an effort to help the fire victims recover some of their losses, which include personal property and medical expenses. The following is an excerpt from the Go Fund Me page. Please visit the page to learn more and to donate.

Aside from the loss of all personal belongings, there will be many unexpected bills and unforeseen costs. Sandy and Joe both have a very long journey ahead of them. Please donate what you can and continue to keep them and well as the entire Reyes Family in your thoughts and prayers.

And words from family member, Raphael Reyes:

I am very saddened to say and thought you all should know that I am sitting here in Bridgeport Hospital burn center before my brother Joe and my dearest mother, Sandy. We've had an unfortunate tragedy with a very bad fire at our home in Ridgefield yesterday that has left mom and Joe in a critical condition with 2nd and 3rd degree burns for now. They say Joe will eventually recover but it will take time do to his injuries. Mom on the other hand is stable with her big kind heart but not yet responsive due to the fact she had taken in a great deal of smoke and had to be resuscitated at the scene.
